And the Spaniard will come up against his old employers at the New Singapore National Stadium, with star man Mesut Ozil lining up his first appearance since the World Cup.

So sloppy from PSG. Aaron Ramsey with a floated ball in just isn’t dealt with. It’s headed across goal, Buffon with a flimsy punch can’t get rid. Lacazette reacts first and heads goalwards, it bounces in off the post.

67 mins: Instant impact! Smith Rowe fizzes a cross in on the right, and it’s Alexandre Lacazette who makes enough contact to poke it home beyond Gianluigi Buffon.

PSG are level through a pretty debatable penalty. Timothy Weah lines up Kolasinac one on one on the right, beats him for pace and the Bosnian recklessly dives in. Not sure how much he got of the player, Weah’s fall looked a little late and exaggerated. But the referee pointed to the spot. Nkunku drills it into the top corner.

52 mins: Martinez is equal to a powerful free-kick from Nkunku. Plenty on it, but a nice central position and height for it to be batted away.

ADAM CRAFTON: The mighty Buffon was excellent in that half, denying Arsenal a two or three goal lead with saves in one-on-one situations. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was clearly impressed, as he asked the goalkeeper to swap shirts on the pitch at half-time. Buffon then headed down the tunnel with his arm around Petr Cech. Lovely.

44 mins: Buffon again providing the last line of defence. Kolasinac finds Mkhitaryan, who has split the central defenders. He shoots low with his right but Buffon makes the stop again.

43 mins: Jinking run from Nkunku, mazes his way into the penalty area and curls an effort just over the top corner.

ADAM CRAFTON: Arsenal started rather sloppily here but they are now into their stride and should be at least two goals to the good.  Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks far more dangerous through the middle than cutting in from the left side. But the role of Mesut Ozil is curious.

The system had been billed as a 4-3-3 with Ozil in midfield but he has more often seemed to be a forward in something resembling a 4-4-2. Not sure how well that would work against a top six rival but we shall see. Arsenal have also appeared to be pressing PSG extremely high from the start here, which Unai Emery has been looked to impose in training.

34 mins: Bernd Leno brought into action, his fingertips stung by a rasping shot from range from Timothy Weah. All stemmed from a risky ball across the edge of the area from Guendouzi.

29 mins: Buffon to the rescue again for PSG! Their defence is all over the place. Aubameyang beats the offside trap from Guendouzi’s ball over the top, but after cutting onto his left foot, Buffon is equal to it and dives to his right to smother the effort well.

24 mins: Arsenal think they have a second but Henrikh Mkhitaryan is offside when he lays the ball off to Aubameyang, who finishes from six yards out with a back heel flick. Impudent.

23 mins: Alex Iwobi should really double Arsenal’s lead here. He’s played through but shoots too close to Gianluigi Buffon and the Italian veteran tips it behind for a corner.

19 mins: There really is a lot of space down the sides for Arsenal. Ozil comes close to another but he can’t quite get on the end of Alex Iwobi’s cross. Very open game so far at a decent pace.

It’s against the run of play but Arsenal have broken the deadlock here. Aubameyang is in acres of space on the right, PSG’s defence just disappeared.

He’s joined by Mesut Ozil who sidefoots home from six yards out from the cut back.

10 mins: Rabiot is pulling the strings in midfield. Surges upfield, feeds Toufiqui on the right, who cuts onto his left foot and bends an effort wide of the far corner.

5 mins: Quiet opening in Singapore. Timothy Weah and Adrien Rabiot lively for the French side, Arsenal have offered little so far.

We are minutes away from kick-off now in Singapore, stay tuned!

Puma’s kits haven’t exactly gone down well with Arsenal fans in recent years… but I’m a fan of this one. More turquoise in the Premier League I say. They’re debut it today.

Then there was one. Once upon a time at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, there were big expectations that the ‘British core’ could lead the Gunners to glory.

But this plan failed to come to fruition, with Aaron Ramsey – who has only one year left on his Arsenal contract – the only player not to fall by the wayside.

Jack Wilshere moved to West Ham this summer, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is now at Liverpool, Kieran Gibbs is plying his trade at West Brom… and well Carl Jenkinson is still in north London but surely not for much longer.

Wenger’s masterplan failed to materialise but now just maybe there’s a chance under new boss Unai Emery that a new English core could uplift the Arsenal faithful.

‘In football, the defender is there to defend.

‘Of course, you have to know how to play with the ball, but in the last five or six years football has changed a lot. A lot of coaches and a lot of teams now look only how to play, not how to defend. I am here to show that I am, first of all, a defender.’

Buffon, Georgen, Rimane, Nsoki, Mbe Soh, Diarra, Berndede, Rabiot, Toufiqui, Nkunku, Weah

Making his first appearance of pre-season, and first under new boss Unai Emery, Mesut Ozil has been handed the captain’s armband.
