WHY A MANCHESTER CITY SCARF?

Oleksandr Usyk draped a Manchester City scarf around his neck for the face-off with Bellew, but it is not believed to have been an attempt to antagonise his Everton-supporting opponent.

Usyk is good friends with Manchester City youngster Oleksandr Zinchenko, with the pair having been pictured together in the city two months ago.

‘I feel fantastic, fat boy’s in shape,’ he said. ‘I made weight, I told you I would. Tomorrow night, I’m going to war. He’s in the deep end, I know exactly where I’m at.

‘I’m ready for war. It’s like something out of that Jack Nicholson film in the asylum, two maniacs looking at each other. You’re going to get one of the greatest fights you’ve ever seen. We’re going to punch the f- out of each other.

‘He’s a formidable champion, pound-for-pound one of the kings of the world. I’ve been the underdog so many times, they may as well start calling me the overdog… but the only person who beats me is me. Tomorrow night I’ll be crowned the king of the world.’

Bellew has shed some serious weight to drop down from heavyweight to cruiserweight, but he was quick to admit that he won’t be keeping in his current condition for long.

‘It’s another night,’ he continued. ‘It’s a fight first, forget about what it means. I just want to beat him. Where do I go from there? A pizza, a pint, a KFC, a Maccys. These abs won’t stay around for long mate.

‘I’m going to release a video after this… you know those, “how to lose 30 pounds in six weeks”, I’m going to make one: “How to put on 30 pounds in three days”.’

Usyk wore a Manchester City scarf as he stood alongside Everton fan Bellew, but it was not believed to be a move to aggravate the Brit.

Indeed, Usyk is a good friend of Manchester City youngster Oleksandr Zinchenko, with the pair having been pictured together previously.
