Tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has been spending some time on Sir Richard Branson’s private island for the Necker Cup. 

The 24-year-old Canadian has uploaded several posts on to Instagram during her stay on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands for the pro-am tennis event.

And on Wednesday she posted a video of herself struggling to swim in a mermaid costume on to her Instagram story.

Following her attempt Bouchard also uploaded a clip of her removing the mermaid tail with the caption: ‘It was so hard to swim in this thing.’

Her Instagram story also included her watching action from the doubles tournament, which started on Saturday, as well as partying.

The Necker Cup sees 16 players or legends from the ATP and WTA tours team up with 16 amateur sides, with the competition lasting six days.

Sir Richard Branson and Daniel Nestor won the Necker Cup on Wednesday by beating Kurt Long and Mike Bryan in the final. 

Bouchard’s year on the court did not go to plan as she crashed out at the round 64 stage at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open. She is ranked 88th in the world.
