Done Deal: Woolston signs for Man Utd
Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Paul Woolston.
Woolston, 20, left Newcastle in July after his contract was not renewed when it expired, and will join United’s Under-23 squad.
The talented stopper was snapped up after a successful trial period at the club and could make his debut against Middlesbrough Premier League 2 Division Two next week.
“Capped by England at Under-18 and Under-17 level, Woolston has had plenty of youth loan experience around the North East with the likes of Gateshead, Darlington, Blyth Spartans and South Shields,” Manchester United wrote on their official website.
David de Gea latest
Manchester United have reportedly triggered the one-year extension option in David de Gea’s contract, tying him to the club until 2020.
On Tuesday, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho claimed De Gea was in talks with the club about a new deal with his contract due to end in the summer.
But Sky Sports say United have opted to exercise the 12-month option in De Gea’s contract to ensure his stay until at least summer 2020.
United have been desperate to tie down De Gea but no long-term agreement has been reached.
