British bantamweight Nathaniel Wood will face America’s Andre Ewell at UFC 232 after original opponent Tom Duquesnoy withdrew from the card due to injury. 

Duquesnoy announced on Tuesday that an intercostal haematoma had forced him off the pay-per-view in Las Vegas on December 29.

And the UFC have wasted no time in finding Wood a new opponent, with California native Ewell stepping in to make his second appearance in the promotion.

Ewell will be making his second UFC appaearance after defeating

The 30-year-old beat former champion Renan Barao in his UFC debut in September and holds a professional record of 14-4-0.

Wood, who is on a six-fight winning streak, will also be entering the UFC octagon for the second time after submitting Johnny Eduardo in his debut in June.  

Speaking after the announcement of his new opponent, Wood said: ‘Preparation is going great, I’ve been in training camp for five months now. 

‘The fact that the UFC have given me the fight at this time of year is perfect timing. I feel amazing.

‘For the UFC to have me on such a great card is a huge honour. There’s going to be a fantastic crowd there, walking out will be a very proud moment for me.’

On facing Ewell, Wood added: ‘I know he’s South Paw and tall, but I believe I’m going to want it more. 

‘I know how bad I want this, and I can’t imagine anyone out there wants it more than me.’

Wood, who was born in Surrey, also revealed that he already has one eye on fighting on UFC’s London show at the O2 Arena in March.

‘The London card is the dream, as soon as this fight is done you best believe I’ll be asking to get on that London card,’ he added.

UFC 232 will be headlined by the highly-anticipated rematch between the returning Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson.
