Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry has showed that he’s a class act both on and off the court when he made a young fan’s day after she reached out to him.

Riley, a nine-year-old basketball fan from California, wrote to the two-time MVP to inform him that she was unable to buy his signature shoes, the ‘Curry 5’s’, on Under Armour’s website.

The youngster was even ‘disappointed’ to see that the shoes were being sold in the boy’s section of the web store and wondered if the 30-year-old could do anything to help her out.

Approximately 10 days after Riley’s original letter was sent, Curry responded and expressed his concern over the issue.

Curry wrote: ‘I appreciate your concern and have spent the last two days talking to Under Armour about how we can fix the issue.

‘Unfortunately, we have labelled smaller sizes as ‘boys’ on the website. We are correcting this now!’, he added.

And to his word, the changes were made and his ‘Curry 5’ shoes can now be purchased in the girl’s section of Under Armour’s website.

But that wasn’t all.

The three-time NBA champion took it one step further and told Riley that she should be expecting a surprise soon.

RILEY’S LETTER TO STEPH CURRY

Dear Stephen Curry,

My name is Riley (Just like your daughter). I’m nine years old from Napa, California. I am a big fan of yours. I enjoy going to Warriors games with my dad.

I asked my dad to buy me the new Curry 5’s because I’m starting a new basketball season. My dad and I visited the Under Armour website and were disappointed to see that there were no Curry 5’s for sale under the girl’s section. However, they did have them for sale under the boy’s section, even to customize. I know you support girl athletes because you have two daughters and you host an all girls basketball camp.

I hope you can work with Under Armour to change this because girls want to rock the Curry 5’s too.

Sincerely,

Riley

STEPH CURRY’S RESPONSE TO RILEY

Hey Riley,

I appreciate your concern and have spent the last two days talking to Under Armour about how we can fix the issue.

Unfortunately, we have labelled smaller sizes as ‘boys’ on the website. We are correcting this now!

I want to make sure you can wear my kicks proudly – I am going to send you a pair of Curry 5’s now and you’ll be one of the first kids to get the Curry 6’s.

Lastly, we have something special in the works for International Women’s Day on March 8, and I want you to celebrate with me!

More to come on that, but plan to be in Oakland that night!

All the best!

Stephen

He continued: ‘I want to make sure you can wear my kicks proudly – I am going to send you a pair of Curry 5’s now and you’ll be one of the first kids to get the Curry 6’s.

‘Lastly, we have something special in the works for International Women’s Day on March 8, and I want you to celebrate with me! More to come on that, but plan to be in Oakland that night!’

The kind gesture was widely praised on social media with his letter racking up over 121,000 likes and 20,000 retweets on Twitter.

Following his class act off the court, Curry will be hoping to show how good he is back on it as he edges closer to a return after being out with a groin injury for three weeks.
