The former Germany international wasn’t named in the matchday squad for the Gunners’ lunchtime match with West Ham, which they lost 1-0.
His latest omission has cast more doubt over his future at the Emirates and further fuelled speculation of a rift between himself and Emery.
Emery shed some light on the 30-year-old’s absence in the post-match press conference and revealed that he didn’t think the creative midfielder’s talents would’ve helped his side at the London Stadium.
“I decided the players who are the best for this match,” he said when asked why Ozil didn’t play today. “We win with him and lose with him.”
